Westertor is a feasibility study investigating the potential of a former commercial plot that lies on the outskirts of the historical town centre. The building contains four apartments above a doctor’s practice and is situated between the residential area and the beginning of the commercial / industrial district. The design introduces a new type of density within the neighbourhood while at the same time reflecting the local vernacular and materials. The building is at once sensitive to the surroundings while at the same time creating a unique presence on the main street.
